چکیده

This work investigates the ways that Automatic Gain Control (AGC) operation can be modified to minimise the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) losses in the presence of a Continuous-Wave (CW) interferer for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. It was found that the recommendations based on analysis of a probabilistic model of a Direct Sequence Pseudorandom Noise (DSPN) receiver reported in the literature work to minimise the magnitude of the CW relative to the amount of GNSS signal captured. This however, comes at the cost of increased Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) which degrades the system performance. It was found that the level of THD could be minimised by taking advantage of higher thresholds in the Analogue-to-Digital Converter (ADC) (if available, such as 4-bits) while still adequately capturing the underlying GNSS signal. This operation is ideal if further processing is to be performed on the samples to mitigate the effects of Radio-frequency Interference (RFI).

A New Reassigned Spectrogram Method in Interference Detection for GNSS Receivers

Interference detection is very important for Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers. Current work on interference detection in GNSS receivers has mainly focused on time-frequency (TF) analysis techniques, such as spectrogram and Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD), where the spectrogram approach presents the TF resolution trade-off problem, since the analysis window is used, and the WV...

Spoofing Mitigation of GPS Receiver using Least Mean Squares-Based Adaptive Filter

The Global Positioning System (GPS) signals are very weak signal over wireless channels, so they are vulnerable to in-band interferences. Therefore, even a low-power interference can easily spoof GPS receivers. Among the variety of GPS signal interference, spoofing is considered as the most dangerous intentional interference. The spoofing effects can mitigate with an appropriate strategy in the...

Direction of Arrival Estimation of GNSS Signals Based on Synthetic Antenna Array

Jammer and interference are sources of errors in positions estimated by GNSS receivers. The interfering signals reduce signal-to-noise ratio and cause receiver failure to correctly detect satellite signals. Because of the robustness of beamforming techniques to jamming and multipath mitigation by placing nulls in direction of interference signals, an antenna array with a set of multi-channel re...

A Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method

Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...

GNSS Space-Time Interference Mitigation: Advantages and Challenges

The use of space-time processing methods in GNSS interference mitigation is of great interest due to their effectiveness in both narrowband and wideband interference suppression. Techniques to reduce the distortion and bias on the cross correlation function due to space-time filtering are also very important especially for high precision GNSS applications. In this paper, different types of spac...
